The Illinois basketball team will, hopefully, add some more talent to future recruiting classes.

These classes will help lay the foundation for the championship runs the Illini will make in the upcoming years. I truly believe, with the right pieces in place, this team can make an impact on the college basketball world. Let me remind you, we are only 12 years removed from our last national title run.

But, what pieces do we need to get back to that level of contending?

Brad Underwood runs a fun-and-gun style of offense that is guard heavy. Having guards run the court will enable the Illini to score more points and that is a fun style of basketball to watch. That also means that there needs to be a nice stable of guards behind the starters as well.

The class of 2017 is bringing in some pretty talented players. These recruits will do wonders to this team and they are exactly what Underwood is looking for.

Not only did Underwood snag a few point guards to run his offense, but they are also leaders and recruits who can score the ball with the best of them.

Here are the areas that the Illini still need to address.
