Talen Horton-Tucker

An under-the-radar player in the class of 2018 is Talen Horton-Tucker. He is a three-star recruit from the state of Illinois. I wouldn’t be surprised if he rises in the recruiting ranks, though.

Horton-Tucker played well for the Mac Irvin Fire over the weekend. He saw action in all four games and was productive. He averaged 11 points per game in this session, but my worry, much like Finke, is his efficiency at times.

In all four games, the best shooting rate that Horton-Tucker put up with 44.4-percent. He shot 4-of-9 in that game for 9 points. The other three contests were 40-percent, 28.6-percent and 14.3-percent from the field.

The efficiency for Horton-Tucker has to increase if he does want to climb the recruiting rankings heading into the future. I do like how he is a well-rounded player, though.

Horton-Tucker struggled this session shooting the ball, but he helped make up for it in other areas. He averaged 5.75 rebounds and 3.25 assists per game in the second session. That is solid production and it helps him to get noticed by coaches.

If your shot is not on for the day, contribute in other areas. Be an effective team player and that is what Horton-Tucker accomplished. He can be that team player that still helps the team despite having a bad shooting night.
