Illinois Basketball: Recruiting history of top 100 point guards
No. 83 Trent Fraizer
Illinois had a top 10 recruiting class at one time for 2017. They were supposed to dominate together, but two of the four players decommitted after the previous head coach was let go.
One of the two players that stuck around was Trent Frazier. He is now the centerpiece of this class and a point guard that Illinois can rely on for years to come.
Frazier is a four-star point guard who is the No. 83 player in the class of 2017 and the No. 21 point guard in the nation. Without even playing a minute of basketball in the orange and blue you can tell this kid is going to be special.
From the great tweets that get the fans excited to staying strong with his commitment, Frazier has already impressed the Illinois diehards. He wasn’t easy to snag, though.
Last July, Frazier cut his list down to just eight programs which included Rhode Island, Georgia, Seton Hall, VCU, Memphis, SMU, Kansas State and Illinois. This list had some tough competition on it and Georgia emerged as a top contender.
Frazier decided to pledge his commitment to the Illini on an official visit, but they still had to fend off the Bulldogs because he took a visit there a week later. Illinois ended up coming out victorious and now they are set at the point guard position for the future.
