Tim Finke

I am excited to see what Underwood’s offensive will look like with the players Illinois has on the team right now. I am also excited to see what Tim Finke can do in it as well.

Finke is a four-star recruit from Champaign Central High School in Champaign, Illinois. He is the No. 93 player in the class of 2018 and the No. 29 small forward. This kid is going to be a sharp-shooter and Illinois needs to not let him get away.

I like the size Finke brings to the table. He is 6-foot-6, 201-pounds and that is going to be dangerous at the next level. He is listed as a small forward but I think he will end up being a guard unless he grows more.

Finke has a ton, and I mean a ton, of scholarship offers already. Some of the big ones are from Oregon, Vanderbilt and Ohio State. I am sure he will add more as time goes on as well. Watch for Kansas to emerge as one of those sneaky teams trying to pull him in.

There were times last AAU season that Finke struggled, but I attribute a lot of those struggles to the depth on the team and the fact that he was young. He is now one of the leaders on this year’s team.

Finke dropped 20 points and added in 5 rebounds and 3 assists in the first game for the Nike MeanStreets this season. I also want to remind you as well, he played for the St. Louis Eagles last season.

The MeanStreets won their first game and did the same in game two. They are now 2-0 for this session and Finke was once again a main piece to the victory. He had 11 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in the win over All Ohio Red.

Finke is a really good player now, and as soon as he gets some college coaching, I project this kid to be All-Big Ten caliber. He is going to be special and Illinois has a golden opportunity to snag him.
