No. 4 Contend in the Big Ten

Okay, this one might be a little out there considering Illinois hasn’t been a serious Big Ten contender in quite some time. But, with the addition of Moore, this dream could come true.

Moore could end up playing for his home state team, but he could also be a big part in getting that team back to where they need to be.

Illinois finished No. 9 in the Big Ten this past season with some serious flaws. They had a coaching regime that was terrible, and yes, I mean terrible. The team wasn’t clicking most of the season because they didn’t know what to do at times.

Lucas didn’t start at point guard at the beginning even though he was clearly the player who should be handling the rock. There was no flow to the offense and it was a bunch of players pounding the rock until they had to chuck the ball up to beat the shot clock.

That isn’t a team that can make the postseason. But, with Underwood coming in, along with some talented players from the class of 2017, I think this team could go dancing this season.

If Illinois makes the NCAA tournament this year, that would help gain experience for the team to use in 2018 when Moore is ready to play. The Illini then would let him loose and the team would compete in the Big Ten.

I am not saying the Illini would win the Big Ten, but I think in 2018 a top five finish is plausible. The sky is the limit for this team and I hope they can put something together to make the fans proud.
