QB Coran Taylor

One big issue for the Illinois football team over the last four or five years has been the lack of quarterback play. I like Wes Lunt but his health and lack of mobility really hurt this team at times.

Illinois has four quarterbacks on the roster right now with Jeff George Jr. and Chayce Crouch being the contenders for the starting quarterback role heading into the 2017 season. The Illini also potentially have Dwayne Lawson coming in as well to compete for the starting Job.

Lawson is a junior college transfer that just needs to finish up his associates degree before he can official transfer. Once he does that then he will be added to the roster.

Illinois needs to continue building the depth and options at quarterback, though. That is why getting Coran Taylor from the class of 2018 would be huge.

Taylor is a 6-foot-3, 205-pound superstar athlete out of Peoria, Illinois. The location is a great recruiting tool for the Illini in the race for Taylor.

Right now, Taylor is rated as a three-star recruit who isn’t ranked by Scout yet. I think he is going to end up being a sneaky get for the Illini.

The recruitment for Taylor hasn’t heated up just yet. He has three offers from Illinois, Illinois State, and Miami (OH).

Getting Taylor would be a nice addition for Lovie Smith and the Illini. He would provide much-needed depth for the football team.
