Last night the Illinois football team received some exciting news as Micah Jones announced a date and time for his commitment.

Jones is a 6-foot-5, 200-pound, wide receiver out of Gurnee, Illinois. He is the No. 289 player in the class of 2018 and the No. 3 player in the state of Illinois.

On Twitter, Jones officially cut his list down to Northwestern, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Iowa, and Illinois.

Jones set the commitment date for this Friday, February 17 at 3 PM central time. He will choose between these great programs and whoever snags this talented wide receiver is getting a top talent.

247Sports has Notre Dame as the leader for Jones, but I truly believe the decision is wide open right now. If I had to bet on where he would commit, I would say it is between Notre Dame, Michigan State, Northwestern, and Illinois.

More from Writing Illini

These four programs seem to have been in the talks for Jones for quite some time and I think he will select one of them. They are all good options for him, though.

Back in January Jones visited both the Irish and Wildcats. He went up to South Bend, Indiana to visit Notre Dame on January 20-22 and then headed over to Evanston, Illinois for a visit to Northwestern on January 27-29.

Jones also had a plan on visiting Michigan State for their spring practice as well.

This Friday will be the end of an exciting recruitment process. Jones has been a hot commodity for quite some time and now a program will get this talented kid.

I love what Jones brings to the table as far as skills go. He is a talented pass catcher, but his size is what really separates him from the rest of the pack. He will be a big-time go-to target for a team.

If I had to make a prediction on where Jones will end up, I would say Notre Dame. The writing seems to be on the wall and he has visited the program a lot as well.

This would be a big pickup for the Irish, but since the Illini are not eliminated, I am still keeping a sliver of hope.
