There are certain recruits that I thought Illinois didn’t have much of a chance at.  These players were recruited by coaches’ years before Lovie could get his hands on them.

But, with The Lovie Effect, Lovie has managed to at least draw some more attention from big-time player Jeff Thomas.

Thomas is being wooed by some of the big-boy programs in college football.  He has offers and interest from the likes of Alabama, Michigan, and Ohio State.

The recruitment of Thomas will be tough for Illinois but they have already made a dent in the big-boy armor.

Just about a month and a half ago, Thomas named Alabama as the leader for his commitment but things could be changing.

Thomas visited Illinois about a week ago and their pitch to him actually got the Illini back into the mix for his commitment.

I cannot tell you how big of a commitment Thomas would for the Illini if he decides to come to Champaign.

Thomas is rated as a 4-star wide receiver who is the No. 52 player in the class of 2017 and the No. 2 player in the state of Illinois.

If Lovie can get Thomas to come to Illinois, then I can’t even imagine what the recruiting classes will look like in 2018 and beyond.
