The recent news headlines for Jack Trudeau have been ugly to say the least.  But, at one time this name was prideful for the Illini.

Trudeau’s first season under center was in 1983.  He came into that season and threw for 2,446 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Illinois actually made the Rose Bowl that season after finishing the year with 10 wins.

Trudeau continued the winning the following season.  Illinois finished 7-4 and he threw for 2,724 yards and 18 touchdowns.

The reason Illinois didn’t make a bowl game in 1984 was because they were banned due to recruiting violations.

No worries, though, Trudeau went back the following year and threw for 2,938 yards and 15 touchdowns.  He led the Illini to the Peach Bowl after a 6-5-1 record.

Trudeau finished up his career as one of the most decorated players in program history.  He will always be remembered for his talents on the football field.

After his time with Illinois, Trudeau was selected in the second round of the 1986 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts.
