The Ohio State Buckeyes have been a great basketball team for quite some time now.  This resurgence is led by Thad Matta.

Matta took over the program back in 2005 and hasn’t had a season with less than 20 wins yet.

Usually, Matta would be higher on this list but last season the Buckeyes missed the NCAA Tournament for only the third time in the Matta era.

Over the last three seasons, Matta has struggled compared to the years before.  He made the postseason as a No. 6 seed three seasons ago only to be upset by No. 11 Dayton.

Two years ago Ohio State made it back to the NCAA Tournament but was pounded by No. 2 Arizona in the second round.

And then last season they missed the postseason altogether.

This slight slide is not due to recruiting, though.  Matta has an impressive track record of bringing in big time recruits.

Matta has averaged a recruiting class of 15th in the nation over the last three seasons.  This includes two classes that were 6th and 5th in the nation.

I expect Ohio State to get back on top soon.  They have the talent and the coaching; there is no way they stay down for long.
