The class of 2019 is quite a ways away, but it will be extremely important nonetheless.  One of the major recruits for 2019 will be point guard Marquise Walker.

Walker isn’t ranked yet by recruiting services because that class is still far away.  But, looking at his tape he is going to end up being one of the best.

This weekend, Walker visited the Illini campus and had a great time meeting with Groce and newly appointed basketball staffer Dee Brown.

It was reported that Walker had such a great time that he might commit before the high school basketball season starts.

This would be a major commitment for the Illini.  If Groce could snag Walker, that would be a building block for a great team in the future.

Illinois is looking at having six scholarships available for the class of 2019.  That is a lot of slots to fill for this basketball team.

That is one of the reasons why snagging Walker would be so important.

The Illini are projected to have Lucas as a senior that season and his backup or sidekick Frazier would be a junior.  This would leave plenty of room for a great point guard like Walker to come in and learn before taking the reins in a few seasons.

I love Walkers game.  He can shoot the ball but his passing ability is what sets him apart from all the other players.  I think he is going to be a superstar at the next level.
