One name that isn’t hot on the Illinois recruiting circuits right now is Derek Culver.  He is a big time center that could prove to be great for the Illini.

Culver is a 6-foot-9 big man that could be dangerous when paired with Tilmon and Goodwin.  These three guys, paired with my next wish list guy, could make a National Championship contender.

I am not sure who is in Culvers top list but I have heard rumors that the Illini are in his top 5.

The source said that Culver has developed a great relationship with Groce and Ford throughout the process.

This is great news for the Illini.  I think the other programs in the running are Arizona, Florida, and Xavier.

Culver is ranked as a 4-star recruit and the 40th overall player in the class of 2017.

I love a lot of the attributes that Culver brings to the table.

Culver is extremely athletic.  His rebounding and shot blocking abilities are out of this world.  He is like an octopus when it comes to blocking and rebounding.

The defensive abilities that Culver possesses remind me of what Nnanna Egwu could do with the Illini.

A great defensive presence has been missing since Egwu departed and it is time to get that back in Champaign.
