Illinois Wins a Big Ten Championship

I think both programs have a chance at winning a Big Ten Championship, but I am not sure who is closer right now.

Illinois basketball is usually the program that is the closest to winning a Big Ten Championship because they are known as a basketball school.

But, as of late the Illini have a lot more momentum for the football team than the basketball team.

More from Writing Illini

The hire of Lovie for the football team has given the Illini a new layer to contend with the big boys of the Big Ten.

I don’t think Lovie will win a Big Ten Championship this season, but he has a decent shot in the next three years.

The basketball team needs a lot of help to get to the point of a Big Ten Championship.  I would like to see them actually make the postseason this year.

But, basketball is a different beast.

With basketball, if you get one great player that could change the fortune of the program completely.

You can have one superstar player that leads you to titles and if Illinois can get that one player they could win a Big Ten Championship.
