The Illinois sports teams for football and basketball have both traveled different paths over the last decade.

Illini basketball has seen the decaying of a great program that made the National Championship just eleven years ago.

We are now seeing that program attempt to gain momentum via recruiting and a resurrection of a floundering head coach.

The basketball team hasn’t made the postseason in three seasons, but this year is hopefully going to be different.

The football team had similar traits as the basketball team in the way of losing.  But, with the football team, we saw a change at the top that has started to give us momentum.

Lovie Smith took the reins of the football team and now has them heading in the right direction with recruiting and hopefully wins as well.

I think the future is bright for both programs and I think we will see that improvement over the next three years.

Here are five goals for the Illinois football and basketball teams in the next three years.
