One of the most interesting recruitments of a player that I can ever remember has to be point guard Charlie Moore.

Moore is rated as a 4-star recruit that is the 71st best player in the class of 2016 and the best player in the state of Illinois.

The accolades that Moore holds are quite impressive and he topped it all off with the 2016 Illinois Mr. Basketball award.

The recruitment of Moore hasn’t been a smooth road, though.  He originally committed to the Memphis Tigers back on November 12 of last year, but then their coach bolted for Georgia Tech.

Well, since the coach is gone, Moore decided to withdraw his commitment on April 8 of this year and reopen his recruitment.

This left the door wide open for Illinois to emerge as the hot team for this talented point guard.  That hasn’t exactly happened, though.

Moore is still keeping Illinois in his top 8 teams, but the odd on favorite now is Georgia Tech.  This would make sense considering the coach he wanted to play for is with the Yellow Jackets now.

But, Illinois is still technically in the running for Moore and he would be a great addition to a team who can use more players.

If Illinois doesn’t get Moore, they still have two solid point guards for 2016.  But, Moore would be a great addition and a sign the Illini are making strides at getting Mac Irvin Fire players.
