Theo John (Howard Pulley)

Illinois is clearly casting a wide net over a lot of recruits in hopes of snagging a class that fans will be talking about for years to come.

One of the players that are caught in that net is forward Theo John.

John plays for the Howard Pulley AAU team. He is an extremely athletic forward from Minnesota and Illinois is one of the schools on his list.

Illinois has been targeting John for quite some time. When I watch tape of John and how he plays basketball it reminds me a lot of a Blake Griffin. He has that athletic ability mixed in with great basketball knowledge.

I think John is still a pretty raw player but with time, he will become a solid division one talent.

In the first session of the EYBL, John did pretty well. He averaged 5.3 PPG and 3.7 RPG.

John’s progression will be interesting to watch for the rest of the summer. He is a talented kid that fills a big need for the Illini in the near future.
