LB Julian Jones

Next: LB Tre Watson

One of the best athletes and hardest workers on the Illinois football team is linebacker Julian Jones.

More from Writing Illini

When the recruiting process was going down not a lot of power five conference schools were going after this 2-star athlete.  Illinois had their eye on him though.

Jones had a total of 13 scholarship offers including Illinois.  Some other notable schools that were going after his services were Indiana, Louisville and Marshall.

With the great recruiting ability of Mike Bellamy, he spotted this talented young player in Jones.  Now Jones is developing into the best linebacker on the team.

Jones is only a true sophomore this season.  He did manage to play in 3 games last year and racked up 3 total tackles.

The youth of Jones is what is really exciting for this Illinois defense right now.  He is an extremely talented player that can see the field well.

The future of the Illinois linebacker core depends on how well Jones develops over the next year or so.  He finally has a great coaching staff around and now it is time to shine.
