LG Gabe Megginson

Next: C Joe Spencer

The two guard positions are up for grabs this season as the two starters from last year departed.  One of those two guard positons I have going to Gabe Megginson.

Megginson was one of the most highly sought after recruits in the class of 2015 and I believe he was one of the most highly rated recruits in the Beckman era.

Megginson entered the Illinois football program as a 4-star offensive tackle from Jacksonville, Illinois.  He was a wanted man coming out of high school with programs like Michigan State and Ohio State offering him a scholarship.

Illinois was the landing spot for Megginson and that is going to pay off with early playing time for this superstar offensive lineman.

In Megginson’s first season with the team he was redshirted because Illinois didn’t need his services last year.  But now as a redshirt freshman he is going to play an important role with this squad.

It looks to me and reports from other Illinois outlets that Megginson will be moving over to guard.  I think he is going to end up being the starter day one of the Lovie era.

Having such a highly touted offensive guard be so young is exciting.  We get to have Megginson around for at least another couple of years.  The future is bright for this kid.
