QB Wes Lunt

Next: QB Ke'Shawn Vaughn

Wes Lunt steps into his third season as the Illinois football starting quarterback.  His first season didn’t go as planned and last year he dealt with a ton of turmoil and instability.

Now Lunt has an NFL coaching staff behind him and a decent amount of solid players as well.

The one downfall Lunt has to deal with this season is the loss of wide receiver Mike Dudek.

Dudek was going to be the No. 1 target for Lunt but he suffered a torn ACL recently.

Despite the injury to his best wide receiver, Lunt should be okay.  He had to deal with the same situation last season and he managed to put up okay numbers with an inexperienced group of wide receivers.

Lunt threw for 2,761 yards, 14 touchdowns and 6 interceptions last season.  He is bound to improve on those stats this year with the new, more experienced, coach staff and a group of wide receivers he is familiar with.

If you add in the fact that Lunt is on his final season with the program then I think it is setup for one of the best years we have seen from an Illinois football team in a long time.
