RG Nick Allegretti

Next: RT Christian DiLauro

Like I mentioned earlier, both the offensive guard positions are open and I think Nick Allegretti is going to lock up the right guard spot.

Allegretti was one of the higher rated recruits Illinois pulled in for the class of 2014.  He was a 3-star center that came out of Frankfort, Illinois.

The recruiting process wasn’t as tough as many of the other recruits though.  Allegretti only had four other scholarship offers beside for the Illini.

Allegretti chose Illinois and that was a great decision because he has started early in his career with the Illini.

In his first season with Illinois Allegretti was redshirted.  This preserved his talents for Illinois to use him last season.

Allegretti was active last season but was the backup to center Spencer.  He is now transforming into a better-rounded offensive lineman in his sophomore season.

I believe that Allegretti is moving over to the guard position and will handle the right guard duties this season.  He is a very capable offensive lineman and I think one of the gems from the class of 2014.
