Throughout the span of time the Illinois basketball team has produced great talent and even better teams.
Ranking the top 10 teams in the history of the Illinois program is extremely difficult considering the great players that have stepped foot on that court in Champaign.
There is a rich tradition of great teams and great players. From John Kerr in the 50’s to Stephen Bardo in the 80’s to Deron Williams in the 2000’s, many superstars have blessed our eyes with their talents.
We have had the privilege to see some of the greatest college basketball players of all-time. We also have had the privilege to see some of the best college basketball games of all-time as well.
Illinois has produced some great games. We all remember the frustration we felt when the early Bill Self teams couldn’t get over the hump of Arizona in the Elite 8. That was a rough NCAA Tournament for most fans.

All Illinois fans also remember the great season in 2004-2005 that was about to be derailed again by Arizona until the greatest comeback in the history of college basketball happened.
That comeback by the Illini will go down as the greatest game ever and no one can really argue that. We thought we were done but then the team went to a place we have never seen before.
There are many memories that Illinois fans can share throughout the years. There have been some superstar talent and great games in the last century. That is why I wanted to lay out what I think is the top 10 teams.
