The Kentucky Wildcats are undefeated this season as they enter the Elite 8 versus the No. 3 seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish.  The Wildcats have a record of 37-0 but I don’t know if they would be able to beat this team that Illinois basketball should have on the court.

The Illini have had a weak showing over the last decade due multiple factors including not being able to retain in-state talent.

The state of Illinois is a basketball breeding ground for some of the top talent in the nation.  What if all the top talent in Illinois stayed local and played for the Fighting Illini?

This team would be better than the Kentucky Wildcats team we have seen today.  They would have a few players that are candidates for the college basketball player of the year and a few players that can distribute the ball like they have been practicing it since the womb.

This Kentucky team is a great ball club but this Illinois team could have potentially been the best team I have ever seen.  They would have mixed in speed with great size and low post skill.

John Groce has been trying to secure commitments from the talent from the state of Illinois and it looks like it is starting to happen.  The upcoming recruiting class is already in the top 10 and they are looking to add a special point guard in Marcus LoVett.

If LoVett commits it could be the start to something great in Champaign.

Here is what the Illinois basketball team would look like today, if they could keep the in-state talent, just from the Elite 8 teams that are playing in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.
