The Illinois football team opened up training camp with the hopes of developing a program good enough to make a bowl game this season.

As we head into the new season, I continue to have hope every year that the Illini will take a step forward. This season should be different than years past. There are so many things happening with this program and things are changing at almost every position.

The excitement I have for the quarterback position is high. There are a handful of new passers coming into the program and they all should push each other for the starting job. The more competition at the quarterback position the better.

There are also other storylines on the Illinois football team. They have now entered training camp. This training camp will help shape what Illini fans will see on the field come Saturdays. There has also been an injury that will affect the team moving forward as well.

Hopefully, Illinois fans get to see a great product on the field this year. The team only won two games in 2017. I am looking to at least double the number of wins from the previous campaign. The developments from training camp should help in the cause.

Here are some early headlines from Illini training camp.
