4. Collin Dixon is a No. 1 wide receiver
If you just look at the box score from the Rutgers game, you will be confused as to why this is a topic. How can I say that Collin Dixon is a No. 1 wide receiver?
Dixon finished the Rutgers game with two catches for 36 yards and a touchdown. That is a solid outing, but that isn’t a No. 1 wide receiver stat line. Here is the thing, though. Dixon isn’t the first option on the Illinois football team.
When you look at the top options, it is Hank Beatty. But that doesn’t mean Dixon isn’t a No. 1 wide receiver. He is someone who could be the Illini’s No. 1 option, and I think moving forward, Illinois fans should be excited about this kid.
Dixon is a physical monster. In that department, he reminds me of someone like Larry Fitzgerald. He is put together well and has nice size at 6-foot-1. The catching ability is what is eye-popping to me.
Coming into the game on Saturday, Dixon has been targeted 36 times this season. He has just one drop, and it was in the Western Michigan game. That great catching ability continued against the Scarlet Knights. Dixon is someone whom Illinois will lean on in the future.
