Trinity Catholic HS - St. Louis, MO. Demetrius Cannon. player. WR. 2. 807. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Illinois has built a solid stable of wide receivers who can make plays. The class of 2020 brought in some talent to help solidify the position too. But the one issue I have with the wide receiver corps is the fact we don’t have a lot of big guys to catch the ball.

Getting a nice big pass-catcher on the outside would benefit the Illini greatly. We have small wide receivers who can zip around the field, but there isn’t a player who can just out physical the opponent. That is why I want someone like Demetrius Cannon.

Cannon is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound wide receiver from Trinity Catholic High School and resides in St. Louis, Missouri. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 432 player in the class of 2021 and the No. 68 wide receiver in the nation. He is also the No. 6 player in the state of Missouri.

There are a wide variety of schools that have come in with an offer to Cannon. He has roughly 10 scholarship offers with the biggest coming from Illinois, Kentucky and Arkansas. As of right now, though, 247Sports has Arkansas with the lead. I assume that is purely based on Cannon going to their junior day after they offered him.

I think Cannon’s recruitment is wide open at this point. Illinois has a solid connection with St. Louis, especially the Trinity Catholic program. It wouldn’t shock me to see the Illini add a top 500 guy like Cannon to the mix.
