Illinois Football: Illini commit Isaiah Williams continues to shine

So many great players for the Illinois football team are going to come out of the class of 2019.

When it comes to the defense, I am excited about multiple players. The leader of this group coming out of the class of 2019 is Marquez Beason. He is going to come into the program and be a shut-down defensive back from day one.

The offense has a lot going for them too. Illinois is bringing in some extremely talented players on this side of the ball led by one of the best quarterbacks in the nation, Isaiah Williams. This kid is special and continues to wow people on the high school level.

Williams’ Trinity Catholic team moved to 4-2 on Friday night. They did drop their first two games of the season but have won four straight since that rough start. In those four games, Trinity Catholic has won with a combined score of 238 and have only given up 27 points during that stretch. This has been an impressive run led by Williams.

Over the last four games, Williams has been special for this Trinity Catholic team. He has thrown for 617 yards and 10 touchdowns in the four victories. On the ground, he has been great as well. He has rushed for a combined 172 yards and three touchdowns.

I realize that he doesn’t have to throw the ball a ton during games, but the one thing that impresses me the most is Williams’ accuracy. He has been scrutinized by “experts” around the country and accuracy was one of the issues. Well, over the last four games, Williams is 25-of-38 during that time. This is a 65-percent completion rate.

It is impressive what Williams has done this season. This kid is special at the high school level and will continue to dominate in college. Illinois has a bright future.
