The Illinois football team was coming off a 2-10 season in the first year under new head coach Tim Beckman in 2012.

This was the year that quarterback Wes Lunt came out of high school.  He is from the state of Illinois but decided to commit to Oklahoma State.

Lunt realized after one season with the Cowboys that it wasn’t the right spot for him.  He decided to come back home.

Lunt announced his decision to transfer and selected the Illini.  He had to sit out the 2013 season but then he got his chance in 2014.

In the first season that Lunt was under center the team actually got back to a bowl game and finished the year at 6-7.

Lunt threw for 1,763 yards and 14 touchdowns that year.

Last season, Lunt was under center again.  He threw for 2,761 yards and 14 touchdowns this time.  But, Illinois missed a bowl game and finished the season 5-7.

Now Lunt comes into his final season with the Illini.  Expectations are high for this talented quarterback and if he succeeds he has a chance to move up on this list.
