Illinois Basketball Recruiting: Louisville’s Rick Pitino and Indiana’s Tom Crean Visit Jaquan Lyle

Head coaches Rick Pitino (Louisville) and Tom Crean (Indiana) both paid a visit to 2014 shooting guard Jaquan Lyle on February 12th.

Lyle has offers from eighteen teams. These teams include: Illinois, Indiana, Louisville, Ohio State, Cincinnati, Georgetown, North Carolina State, Tennessee, Texas, Iowa, Memphis, Miami, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Providence, Purdue, Wake Forest, and Xavier.

Although, he has stated that he has cut his options down to eleven teams.

It is projected that he is heavily interested in Illinois, Indiana, Louisville, and Ohio State.

Lyle is a 6’5″, 190 pound shooting guard from Evansville, Indiana. He plays at Bosse High School.

The Boosse Bulldogs are currently 13-4 this season. They defeated Mater Dei High School, 51-48, on Thursday.

The five-star recruit is currently ranked 2nd in the state of Indiana, 7th among shooting guards, and 19th nationally among 2014 high school recruits by 247Sports.

Lyle would be a huge pick-up for whatever team he commits to. He is a smooth combo guard (can play the point or shooting guard). He can get into the lane, create shots for his teammates, and create shots for himself. The range on his shot is up to 19 feet.

The Illinois Fighting Illini were thinking pink but seeing red when the Indiana Hoosiers traveled to the Assembly Hall on January 30^th.

Donned in pink uniforms for cancer awareness, the Illini were engaged in a nip-and-tuck affair with the scrappy Hoosiers before junior Demetri McCamey would put the team on his back with some buzzer-beating heroics. (more…)

A weak schedule is just what the doctor ordered for the 2009-2010 Illinois Fighting Illini after 5 non-conference losses.

Already 2-0 in the Big Ten after surviving Northwestern and besting Iowa, the Illini must get a road game at Indiana against a struggling Hoosiers’ team that was just pasted by Ohio State.

Sounds easy, right?

Not when you’re bringing a bipolar team to the wrong Assembly Hall. (more…)
