The teams that Scott is heavily interested in are Florida, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and South Florida.

Out of those eight teams, many seem to think that Michigan is at the head of the pack.

The 247 Sports Crystal Ball currently has the Wolverines as a 100% predicted spot to land the 2014 recruit.

As a junior in 2012, Scott recorded 995 receiving yards on 64 receptions and ten receiving touchdowns. He also recorded 122 rushing yards on thirteen attempts and one rushing touchdown.

The four-star recruit is currently ranked 12th in the state of Florida, 15th among wide receivers, and 115th among 2014 high school recruits by 247Sports.

There’s no doubt that we live in the age of Social Media. People are either checking their Facebook Wall to see what friends and family are up to or they are tweeting to let the world know what they are doing at that very moment and to give their opinions. Even athletes are involved with social media in today’s world. Some use it to market their own brand while others use it for comedy and stuff (like Chad Ochocinco).

Even university athletic departments use Facebook and Twitter to promote their various sports programs and championships, but which universities are doing it the best?

Today, Auburn Athletics posted the Social Media Top 25 when it comes to colleges across the country. The Illinois Fighting Illini did not make the list, but they were ranked somewhere.

In the Sports Fan Graph on Social Media, the Illini rank overall at #48. Illinois is listed to have 9,706 Twitter followers (#47), 85, 059 Facebook Fans (#41), and 392 people talking about them on Facebook (#49).

Other Big Ten teams to make either of the lists include: Ohio State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue, Penn State, Indiana, and Michigan. The only team from the Big Ten not on either list is the Northwestern Wildcats.

When it comes to the rankings posted by Auburn Athletics, the Ohio State Buckeyes are at the top of the Facebook Top 25 and the Nebraska Cornhuskers are at the op of the Twitter Top 25.

In the Sports Fan Graph rankings, there are three Big Ten teams in the Top 10. Ohio State is #1 with 32,247 Twitter Followers and 1,347,376 Facebook fans.

As an entire conference, the Big Ten is ranked 3rd overall in the Sports Fan Graph rankings. The Big Ten has 54,553 Twitter followers, 50,777 Facebook fans, and 862 people talking about the conference on Facebook.

In the end, Illinois made one of the lists, but are not in either Top 25 because of their lack of success in recent years. After looking at the rankings, it looks like success is a big part of why certain teams are towards the top. Teams like Ohio State, Florida, and Texas are successful teams, but also have tradition being their squads.

As for the Oregon Ducks being #1 in the Auburn rankings for YouTube, they are fun to watch. It is that simple.

What do you think? Is there a certain reason Illinois doesn’t have a stronger Social Media presence? Do you personally agree with the rankings?
