2014 tight end Ryan Izzo received an offer from the Illinois Fighting Illini on May 17th. Izzo was one of two TEs that Tim Beckman offered at on Friday (the other was Cole Cook).

Izzo has received offers from the Iowa Hawkeyes, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Virginia Tech Hokies, Boston College Eagles, Illinois Fighting Illini, Indiana Hoosiers, Michigan State Spartans, Northern Illinois Huskies, Massachusetts Minutemen, South Florida Bulls, Temple Owls, and Tulane Green Wave.

Sep 24, 2011; Champaign, IL, USA; Illinois Fighting Illini cheerleaders celebrate a touchdown during the second half against the Western Michigan Broncos at Memorial Stadium.
It seems that Izzo is most interested in Iowa, Rutgers, and Virginia Tech. Out of all his offers, the 247 Sports Crystal Ball currently has the Hokies as a 100% predicted spot to land the 2014 recruit.

According to his skills on 247 Sports, Izzo’s best ones are his frame, hands, catch radius, and route running. Izzo is a better receiving TE rather than a blocking tight end.

Izzo’s lowest rating on 247 Sports’ skills chart is his point of attack. The young New Jersey recruit is a good blocker, but he is a better receiver than a blocker.

The three-star recruit is currently ranked 21st in the state of New Jersey and 31st among tight ends by 247Sports.

The Illinois Fighting Illini were just one of three teams to send a coach to visit 2014 strong-side defensive end Dewayne Hedrix on May 7th. Along with the Illini, the Top 5 Illinois recruit was also visited by coaches of the Syracuse Orange and Iowa Hawkeyes.

Hendrix has a 92 rating on 247 Sports and is the 12th best strong-side defensive end in the country. He is also the 167th best recruit in the 247 Sports rankings.

Apr 12, 2013; Champaign, IL, USA; Illinois Fighting Illini head coach Tim Beckman before the spring football game at Memorial Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Bradley Leeb-USA TODAY Sports

The four-star O’Fallon, Illinois native currently has received offers from the Tennessee Volunteers, California Golden Bears, Florida Gators, Kansas State Wildcats, USC Trojans, Cincinnati Bearcats, Illinois Fighting Illini, Indiana Hoosiers, Iowa Hawkeyes, Iowa State Cyclones, Kansas Jayhawks, Michigan State Spartans, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Missouri Tigers, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Northern Illinois Huskies, Ohio State Buckeyes, Ole Miss Rebels, South Florida Bulls, Syracuse Orange, and Vanderbilt Commodores.

Out of all of his offers, the Tennessee Volunteers seem to be at the top of the pack. The 247 Sports Crystal Ball currently has the Vols as a 100% predicted spot to land the 2014 recruit.

Although, Cal, Florida, Kansas State, and Southern Cal are the other four teams right behind Tennessee.

When it comes to all of Hendrix’s skills, 247 Sports has them all at 7 or above, however, his best skill is easily his frame (listed at a 9).

Hendrix stands tall at 6’5″ and weighs 255 pounds. When it comes to this recruit, coaches can teach him how to have a quicker first step or how to pursue the quarterback. The one thing they can’t teach is size and frame and Dewayne Hendrix has plenty of that.

The four-star recruit is currently ranked 4th in the state of Illinois, 12th among strong-side defensive ends, and 167th among 2014 high school recruits by 247Sports.

Dre Brown is only a 2015 recruit. However, he is getting an early start on the recruitment process. Brown unofficially visited the Illinois Fighting Illini on March 27th. This visit to Champaign is now the fifth time he’s been to the University of Illinois campus.

The Dekalb, Illinois native has received two early offers from the Illinois Fighting Illini and Northern Illinois Huskies. Although, he is receiving interest from the Indiana Hoosiers and the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Nov 24, 2011; Evanston, IL, USA; Illinois Fighting Illini head coach Tim Beckman leads his team to the field before the game against the Northwestern Wildcats at Ryan Field. Mandatory Credit: David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

Brown attended Indiana’s Junior Day on January 27th.

It is still very early in his recruitment process, but it seems like there is an early interstate race between the Fighting Illini and Huskies.

After looking at some of Brown’s film from this past season, most of his runs come from the shotgun formation.

Brown might not have the speed to outrun all defenders in the open field, but has a nice burst of speed at the line of scrimmage. He is able to use his speed to get through the line quickly and uses hits moves to “trick” defenders in the open field.

As a sophomore at De Kalb High School, Brown ran for 759 yards on 108 carries and scored nine rushing touchdowns.
