He originally committed to Illinois, but decommitted from the Illini on May 29th, 2012.

The other teams to offer at him include: Auburn, College of Charleston, Missouri, UNLV, Western Kentucky, Colorado, SMU, and Tulane.

James is a 6’2″, 180 pound guard from Chicago, Illinois. He is currently a senior at La Lumiere High School in Indiana.

The La Lumiere Lakers are 21-2 overall this season. Their next game will be against Andrews Academy in Berrien, Michigan.

The three-star recruit is currently ranked 6th in the state of Indiana, 33rd among point guards, and 131st nationally among 2013 high school recruits by 247Sports.

Jalen James, a 6-foot-3 point guard from Chicago Hope, has given a verbal commitment to Illinois.

Illinois received its first verbal commitment from a member of the 2013 basketball class today. Jalen James, a junior at Chicago Hope High School, committed tonight after being offered a scholarship following the UI basketball team camp confirms Illinois Wolves coach Mike Mullins. James has already received attention from several other DI schools including Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, and Missouri. (more…)
