The history that the Illinois basketball team has with the recruitment of Charlie Moore is sad. They lost out to him before last season and he was a player that I really wanted.

Moore ended up committing to the California Golden Bears where he averaged 28.8 minutes, 12.2 points, 2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. These are solid numbers for a true freshman.

Turmoil started to hit the Cal program, though. This all began with their head coach leaving the team to take the Missouri job. After that happened, players started to transfer out of the program and that included Moore.

Moore announced he was searching for a new team that was closer to home. This left the door open for the Illini, so they swooped in. Now it looks like Illinois is in a recruiting battle with a familiar foe, the Kansas Jayhawks.

The recruitment of Moore is not finished and I would expect to hear a decision by the end of this weekend. He is a talented player that is going to shine wherever he ends up playing basketball.

I hope Illinois is the ultimate destination because I think he could help build this program back up to where it needs to be.

Here are four reasons why I think Charlie Moore will choose the Illini.
