There are a decent amount of recruits still keeping an eye on the Illinois basketball team.

Now that Brad Underwood and his newly assigned coaching staff have taken over the program, recruits seem to have a real interest in coming to Champaign. This is exciting and I can’t wait to see who we land for 2017 and beyond.

Right now, in particular, there are five recruits that Illinois is in the running for. These players could help the program in one way or another, and I hope that Underwood can land a majority of them.

There are still four scholarships left for the Illini to fill for 2017 and 2018 combined. These scholarships are very important because Illinois needs to fill them with talented players that will help the team now and a few years from now.

I am intrigued by all five of these options. Some of them are an immediate help to the program and will be around for only a year or two. Others are players who might redshirt year one and then develop into All-Big Ten type talent.

No matter what, though, the recruiting is hot for the Illini. They have some options out there that will help the team tremendously and if they can land two or three of them I will be extremely happy.

Here are the top five recruiting priorities for the Illini.
