After opening up the season with a victory over Youngstown State last weekend, Illinois football will host their first FBS school of the 2014 season in C-USA’s Western Kentucky.

Although the Fighting Illini were almost upset against Youngstown State, the team dominated the fourth quarter, and they will look to continue that kind of a performance this week against WKU.

Saturday’s meeting will be the first ever meeting between Illinois and Western Kentucky. However, the Hilltoppers have three coaches on their staff that use with the Fighting Illini in the past.

WKU head coach Jeff Brohm use to be Illinois’ QB coach from 2010-2011, Mike Cassity was Ron Turner’s defensive coordinator from 2001-2003, and Greg Nord was hired at Illinois along with Brohm before the 2010 season, but he took a job at Louisville instead.

This weekly feature highlights some Fighting Illini to keep an eye on this week against Western Kentucky.
