As the first week of training camp neared its end, Illinois football played host to a 2018 recruit, as wide receiver Micah Jones unofficially visited Champaign on Thursday.
Jones’ visit to Illinois was his second to a Big Ten school. His father told 247Sports that Jones was visiting Northwestern on Wednesday and Illinois on Thursday.
Right now, the Warren Township wide receiver does not a single offer.
However, he is on the radar of Northwestern, Illinois, Iowa, and Miami (FL).
Although Jones is just entering his freshman year of high school, he already shows potentially great strength, size, and speed on the football field.
In Micah Jones’ highlight video from this past April, Warren Township assistant sophomore coach Scott Ryczek had this to say about Jones’ play on the field:
“I coached Mich Jones in youth football his first year and knew then that this kid has the potential to develop into an athlete that would excel on and off the football field. He has the size and speed that will have coaches talking.”
Illinois has been able to add some good receiving talent to the team over the years. It’d be nice to see Micah Jones suit up for the Orange & Blue in the future.
