This past week, Illinois football saw one of its newest members “receive” some recognition by Foxsports.com, as freshman wide receiver Mike Dudek was named as one of five Big Ten freshmen to watch in 2014 by Fox Sports’ Allen Trieu.
Here’s what Trieu had to say about Dudek coming into the 2014 season:
Dudek enrolled early and was very impressive in the Spring, to the point where he is considered a strong option to start for Illinios in the slot. He is fast, runs great routes and has excellent hands and ball skills.
Mikey Dudek has been high on charts among Illini Nation, but it seems as though the rest of the conference is beginning to take note of his talent.
Writing Illini’s own Austin Jabs listed the freshman wide out as one of Illinois’ potential offensive breakout performers this season.
Every team needs a guy like Dudek in their receiving corps. He is a stellar route running who can play very well on the inside for Bill Cubit this season.
Even Dudek’s fellow veteran teammates are high on him entering the 2014 season.
I’d look for him to be in a lot of different positions, special teams as well. He looks like he could help us right away.
Illini Nation should expect to hear Mike Dudek’s name a lot in 2014.
Although the team lost some major talent at WR from last season, Tim Beckman has made sure that the talent was replaced well with new players.
Dudek should be able to help the Illini offense along with Geronimo Allison, Martize Barr, Raphael Barr, Jon Daivs, and Matt LaCosse.
However, Mike Dudek isn’t the only Illini freshman turning heads this offseason. Malik Turner has been seen as a “dark horse contributor” to help out Dudek and the Illini offense this season.
