Welcome to our Countdown to Kickoff series! In this series, we’ll do roster previews as we count down the days until the Illinois Fighting Illini August 30th season opener against Youngstown State.
Next up in the Countdown to Kickoff series is a pair of #25’s in running back Kendrick Foster and defensive back Sean Arowolaju.
Foster joined the Fighting Illini last season as a three-star recruit out of Richwoods High School in Peoria, Illinois. He redshirted in 2013 for Illinois, but he totaled 6,401 rushing yards (5th in career rushing in Illinois state history) and 78 touchdowns (73 rushing) in high school.
There could be a slim chance that Foster sees time in order to help the Illini offense in 2014.
However, with Josh Ferguson and Donovonn Young carrying most of the load, Kendrick Foster could be a special teamer and running back of the future for the team this season.
As for Arowolaju, he joined the Fighting Illini as a walk-on during the 2012 season, but did not see any game action.
Illini Nation might be tired of hearing it, however, this season is going to be an important one for the Illini.
Right now, ourlads.com has the sophomore DB listed as one of the fourth string corners for the team coming into the 2014.
If that holds to be true, Arowolaju will need to make his name on special teams for Illinois this season.
Be on the lookout for our Countdown to Kickoff series as we continue to work our way to the season opener on August 30th.
