Illinois Football Head Coach Tim Beckman took a couple of minutes today after practice to speak with the media and IlliniProductionsHD was there to capture the video.
One of the key takeaways from his talk today is that they managed to sell 14,000 tickets during their unique 125 minute $9.99 ticket promotion that took place earlier today. Why is it key? Fans are beginning to feel the momentum building and they are showing that by wanting to be a part of what’s to come this season.
Yes, the reduced ticket price undoubtedly played a big role in people buying tickets today, but even with a reduced price there aren’t always guaranteed sales.
It shows that the fan base might just be turning the corner right along with the team.
Along those lines, it was also nice to hear Coach Beckman indicate he will be giving away 40 tickets per game to those who may not be fortunate enough to have had the ability to purchase them even at the reduced rate.
Helping to provide an experience and including those that are less fortunate is yet another example of how the sense of family is permeating throughout the program.
When things are rough, family looks out for family, and acts like this should only give further reason for the fan base to rally behind the Illini if they hit a rough patch of their own on the field.
