Illinois Fighting Illini Basketball: Women’s Team to Host Virginia in ACC/Big Ten Challenge

Yesterday, the Big Ten and Atlantic Coast Conferences announced all the games for this season’s Big Ten/ACC Women’s Basketball Challenge.

In this year’s challenge, the Illinois Fighting Illini will be playing the Virginia Cavaliers on Wednesday, December 3rd at the State Farm Center.

This year’s meeting between the Illini and the Cavaliers will be their fifth overall meeting. Virginia defeated Illinois in the 2008 Big Ten/ACC Women’s Basketball Challenge and leads the all-time series 4-0.

The Fighting Illini are 3-4 all-time in the Big Ten/ACC Women’s Basketball Challenge. The ACC leads the Big Ten 48-32 all-time in the challenge and has defeated the Big Ten six of the past seven years (tie in 2011).

The Illinois Fighting Illini will look to improve on their dismal 9-21 record from last season. However, they will now be joined by All-Big 12 Freshman team honoree Kyley Simmons (sat out last season due to transfer rules).
