Starting this week, ESPN began presenting their list of Top 50 coaches in college hoops. This Top 50 list will be complied using ESPN Forecast. ESPN Forecast is ESPN’s engine for creating more accurate sports predictions and opinion.
On Monday, ESPN released its first set of coaches from 24-50. They also released a list of 25 coaches that just missed the cut of being a Top 50 college hoops coach.
Illinois’ head coach John Groce was not ranked from 24-50, but was only left out of the 25 names who missed the cut. This means that Illini Nation still has hope that their head coach could make the list and be a Top 50 hoops coach.
Because of this, we here at Writing Illini ask the question: Is John Groce A Top 50 College Hoops Coach?
As a head coach, John Groce has led both the Ohio Bobcats and the Illinois Fighting Illini to three NCAA Tournament bids, one CIT Tournament bid, and one NIT Tournament bid. He’s also given Illini Nation hope about the future of the Illinois Fighting Illini basketball team.
Overall, Groce has a career coaching record of 127-84 (.602).
What do you think, Illini Nation? Is John Groce a Top 50 College Basketball Head Coach?
