Illinois Fighting Illini Football Recruiting: Sheldrick Redwine Receives Illini Offer

On Thursday, the Illinois Fighting Illini extended an offer to 2015 cornerback/safety Sheldrick Redwine. Redwine is ranked as one of the Top 100 CBs from the 2015 recruiting class.

Illinois is the seventeenth team and first Big Ten team to offer at the Miami, Florida native. Although he has seventeen offers, Redwine is only interested in Illinois, West Virginia, Arkansas, FIU, Kentucky, and South Florida.

However, the West Virginia Mountaineers are receiving the most interest from the South Beach recruit. The 247Sports Crystal Ball even predicts Redwine to commit to WVU when his recruitment is all said and done.

Sheldrick Redwine is a hard hitting cornerback who plays very well in the passing game. The young Florida corner has the ability to either locate the ball while it’s in the air to make a play or hit the receiver hard in order to jar the ball loose.

There’s no doubt that the defensive side of the ball is the weakness for the Fighting Illini. Sheldrick Redwine would be a quality pickup in order to get the Illinois defense on the right track.

In 2013, Redwine recorded 81 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

The three-star recruit is currently ranked 122nd in the state of Florida, 73rd among cornerbacks, and 918th among 2015 high school recruits by 247Sports.
