The Illinois Fighting Illini continue to work hard on their 2015 recruiting class by targeting some of the top talent from across the country. This time, they did so by extending an offer to safety Marcus Walker. Walker is one of the Top 25 safeties from the Class of 2015.
Illinois is the 27nd team and fourth Big Ten team to offer at the Lake Wales, Florida native.
Per 247Sports, Walker is heavily interested in the Arkansas Razorbacks, Kentucky Wildcats, Mississippi Bulldogs, UCF Knights, and Georgia Bulldogs (no offer).
Marcus Walker originally gave his verbal commitment to the Kentucky Wildcats on January 8th, but decommitted from the Wildcats in mid-April.
Because of his decommitment, the two unofficial favorites to land Walker are UCF and Mississippi State.
For Illinois, they are on the outside looking in when it comes to Marcus Walker.
He would be a huge steal for Tim Beckman and company. However, chances are pretty low of that happening at this point in time.
Illinois will need to AT LEAST make a bowl game if they want a chance to land this recruit.
The three-star recruit is currently ranked 53rd in the state of Florida, 25th among safeties, and 402nd among 2015 high school recruits by 247Sports.
