2014 NFL Draft: Illinois Fighting Illini See Zero Players Drafted

For the first time since the 2006 NFL Draft, the Illinois Fighting Illini saw none of their players selected in the NFL Draft.

Many thought that Illinois would see at least one of their players get selected in the draft. Outside linebacker Jonathan Brown was projected by many to be picked up by an NFL team somewhere in the seventh round.

However, that was not the case. Now it’s time to focus on free agency.

The two main Illini on draft boards were OLB Jonathan Brown and WR Ryan Lankford.

There’s a good chance that both players will either be signed by an NFL team as a free agent or at least receive an invite to a NFL offseason camp.

The last draft where Illinois had zero Illini selected was the 2006 NFL Draft. That year, former Illinois punter Steve Weatherford was signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent. Weatherford has been in the NFL for nine years.
