On Thursday, Illinois’ defensive line coach Greg Colby made the trip from Champaign, Illinois to Millburn, New Jersey to visit with 2015 tight end/defensive end Jake Pickard.
So far, the Millburn, New Jersey native has offers from Illinois, Louisville, Purdue, Virginia, Rutgers, Boston College, Cincinnati, Nebraska, Syracuse, and Temple.
Per 247Sports, Pickard is heavily interested in Louisville, Purdue, Rutgers, and Virginia along which several teams who haven’t sent him an offer. These teams include: Colorado, Maryland, Michigan, Northwestern, Ohio State, and Penn State.
Right now, the 247Sports Crystal Ball has the Jersey tight end playing football in the Big Ten, but not with the Fighting Illini. Eight of the thirteen experts are predicting the Millburn recruit to give his verbal to the Purdue Boilermakers.
Most teams are recruiting Jake Pickard as a tight end, but it seems as though the Illini are going to defensive end route when it comes to the 2015 “iron man.”
Pickard has hosted a ton of college coaches thus far in the month of May and plans to host more. Colby is scheduled to make yet another visit on May 13th, Penn State’s Ricky Rahne and Sean Spencer will visit him on May 15th, Ohio State’s Ed Warinner will make a visit on May 16th, and Oregon’s Erik Chinander will make the cross country trip on May 20th.
The three-star recruit is currently ranked 29th in the state of New Jersey, 45th among tight ends, and 1,326th among 2015 high school recruits by 247Sports.
