The Illinois Fighting Illini have been working hard on their 2015 recruiting class by targeting some of the top talent from across the country. However, Tim Beckman and company took a different route as they extended an offer to 2015 JUCO recruit Zach Heath.
Illinois is just the second team and first Big Ten team to offer at the American River College center. So far, he has offers from Illinois and Western Kentucky.
Although, Illini fans shouldn’t be concerned with that WKU offer. This is because Heath actually signed his Letter of Intent to play for the Hilltoppers in the 2014 recruiting class, but decided to stay at American River instead.
Heath fits the mold of 6’4″+, 270+ pound offensive lineman that Illinois has been targeting of late. The American River center stands tall at 6’4″ and weighs a hefty 285 pounds.
What puts Zach Heath above the other offensive line targets from the 2015 class is that he actually has gone up against some type of college level opponents.
Illini fans would expect the high school targets have a limited role during their first year, but Heath could be a solid contributor for the Fighting Illini during his first year in Champaign.
