Illinois Fighting Illini Football Recruiting: Illinois Extends Offer Towards Deontay Anderson

On Wednesday, Tim Beckman and company extended an offer to 2015 safety Deontay Anderson. Anderson is one of the Top 5 recruits from the state of Texas.

Illinois is just the thirteenth team and third Big Ten team to offer at Anderson. So far, the Manvel safety has offers from Illinois, LSU, Texas A&M, Colorado, Houston, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, TCU, UCLA, Virginia Tech, and Washington State.

Per 247Sports, Deontay Anderson is heavily interested in LSU, Texas A&M, Alabama (no offer), and Texas (no offer).

Right now, the 247Sports Crystal Ball doesn’t have the Manvel, Texas native leaving his home state. The majority (75%) of the recruiting experts predict him to commit to the Texas A&M Aggies.

Anderson was named the Defensive Back MVP of a loaded Houston Nike Camp and can also play the cornerback position as well as the safety position.

The five-star recruit is currently ranked 5th in the state of Texas, 2nd among safeties, and 23rd among 2015 high school recruits by 247Sports.
