On Thursday, defensive coordinator Tim Banks made the 692 mile flight from Champaign, Illinois to Washington, DC for a visit with 2015 outside linebacker Kareem McDonald. McDonald is one of the Top 15 recruits from the District of Columbia.

The Illinois Fighting Illini have yet to extend an offer towards 2015 linebacker, and the only teams to have done so are Old Dominion, Charlotte, and Toledo.

Right now, the team receiving the most interest from the DC native is Old Dominion. Four of the five recruiting experts on the 247Sports Crystal Ball are even predicting McDonald to give his commitment to the Monarchs when it’s all said and done.

When it comes to his play of the field, Kareem McDonald has some strengths, but will need to make quite a few improvements at the college level.

He contains pretty decent athleticism and quickness. He also is a good tackler with pretty good instincts. However, his biggest weaknesses have to be his lateral movement and how he plays in space.

Kareem McDonald can only expect an Illinois offer if Tim Banks feels as though he can develop him into something special in Champaign.

The two-star recruit is currently ranked 13th in the District of Columbia, 86th among outside linebackers, and 1,416th among 2015 high school recruits by 247Sports.
