Illinois Fighting Illini Recruiting: Dee Brown Tweets Advice To Potential Recruits

This morning, a single tweet from the Illini Nation Twitter account that asked a couple of very simple questions elicited a three tweet response from one of the most identifiable Illini players in recent history, and in state recruits in all sports should pay attention to what he is saying.

Here’s how it all played out.

Illini Nation’s twitter account has a point, and it obviously resonated with Dee Brown enough so that he felt like he had to drive the point home. Brown is the perfect player to make his voice heard because he HAS played for a national championship while wearing the orange and blue.

While the “sure thing” in most people’s minds can often be construed as heading to the Alabama’s, Auburn’s, Ohio State’s, and Duke’s of the world, there is no good reason why success can’t be achieved at Illinois. In fact, there is no such thing as a “sure thing” when it comes to winning titles, and one must look no further than this year’s Jabari Parker led Duke team, who was eliminated in it’s NCAA tournament opener by Mercer, for proof.

If the big time recruits decide it’s time to take a stand and all join forces, then the outcome is just as likely that Illinois could find itself playing for championships on the field, or court, just as Brown did during his time at Illinois.

So, the question remains for all potential future Illini currently considering suiting up for the home state institution: Why not Illinois?
