After extending an offer to a wide receiver from the 2016 recruiting class on Monday, the Illinois Fighting Illini sent out another offer to a 2016 recruit on Tuesday. This time, the recipient of the Illini offer was Minnesota dual-threat quarterback Seth Green.
Although he’s a 2016 recruit, Illinois is the sixth team and third Big Ten team to offer at the Saint Paul native. Currently, Green has offers from Illinois, Iowa, Louisville, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, and Toledo.
Right now, the 247Sports Crystal Ball doesn’t have Seth Green leaving the state of Minnesota. All six of the experts are predicting the East Ridge quarterback to give his verbal to the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
The two biggest aspect to great dual-threat quarterbacks are arm strength and speed, and Seth Green has both of those two skills.
He has the arm strength to throw the deep pass (very much like Cubit loved to run with Nathan Scheelhaase last season). He also has the speed to get out of the pocket and get around the corner in order to pick up yards on the ground. More importantly, he looks comfortable as a runner and doesn’t look frantic.
The four-star recruit is currently ranked 2nd in the state of Minnesota, 6th among dual-threat quarterbacks, and 182nd among 2016 high school recruits by 247Sports.
