The Illinois Fighting Illini continue to work hard on their 2015 recruiting class by targeting some of the top talent from across the country. This time, they did so by extending an offer to offensive guard Trey Derouen. Derouen is one of the Top 100 OGs from the 2015 class as well as from the state of Georgia.
Illinois is just the seventh team and first Big Ten team to offer at the Lilburn native. So far, he has offers from Illinois, Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, and Mississippi State.
Although they haven’t offered at him yet, some believe that Derouen might commit to Vanderbilt if extended an offer from them. He visited the Vanderbilt campus last October and seemed pretty impressed at the end of the trip.
Illinois received a huge commitment today from the 2015 class in Gabe Megginson, and Trey Derouen would be a nice addition to Megginson.
With some young potential good quarterbacks on their team, Tim Beckman and company will need to make sure they assemble the best offensive line to protect them.
The three-star recruit is currently ranked 82nd in the state of Georgia, 61st among offensive guards, and 858th among 2015 high school recruits by 247Sports.
